Step 01

Connect directly before changing drivers.

Logitech’s current Brio 500/501 detection guidance says to check all connections and bypass USB hubs or extenders during diagnosis because an accessory may not provide the required power or USB capability. Brio 500 uses an attached USB-C cable, so the normal isolation test is another suitable USB-C host port rather than replacing the cable.

Step 02

Use Device Manager to decide which branch you are on.

Brio 500 listed normally

Windows detects the hardware. Move to Camera app/privacy/app settings.

Listed with warning icon

Use Logitech’s current driver guidance and Windows Update; record the device status/error.

Not listed

Try another USB port and another computer before calling it a driver problem.

Step 03

Test with Windows Camera.

Microsoft recommends testing a camera in another app. If Windows Camera can preview Brio 500 but Teams, Zoom, a browser, or another app cannot, the device is detected and the remaining problem is app selection, permissions, or app-specific configuration.

Step 04

Check Windows 11 camera access.

Open Settings → Privacy & security → Camera. Microsoft separates device camera access, Microsoft Store app access, and desktop-app access. Browsers and many conferencing programs are desktop apps and depend on Let desktop apps access your camera.

Step 05

Use Logi Tune after the camera enumerates.

Logitech lists Brio 500 as supported in Logi Tune. Use it for supported camera settings/features after Windows recognizes the device. Do not treat Tune’s absence of the camera as proof of hardware failure until Device Manager and direct-USB tests are complete.

Known specifications

Do not troubleshoot Brio 500 as if it were the older 4K Brio.

Logitech’s Brio 500 specifications list Full HD 1080p at 30 fps and 720p at up to 60 fps, autofocus, multiple fields of view, an attached USB-C cable, and RightSight auto-framing through Logi Tune. It is a different product from Logitech’s 4K Brio models.

Decision

Do you need a replacement webcam?

No

If Windows Camera works, keep the webcam and fix the app/privacy configuration.

Maybe

If it works on another computer, troubleshoot the original PC’s USB/Windows state.

Support / replacement

If it is absent or faulty across multiple supported hosts when connected directly, contact Logitech with the device/host details.
