Model check

The three common models do not have identical electrical requirements.

ScreenBar

BenQ lists 5V DC, maximum 1A, 5W.

ScreenBar Halo

BenQ lists 5V DC, maximum 1.3A. The Halo uses a wireless controller with its own batteries.

ScreenBar Pro

BenQ lists 5V DC, maximum 1.7A / 8.5W and uses a different control design from Halo.

Use the current specification page for the exact revision you own. Do not assume a monitor USB port that powers one model is adequate for another.

Step 01

Test the documented power path.

Use BenQ’s supplied cable and, where the product includes one, the supplied power adapter. If you have been powering the lamp from a monitor USB port, compare that port’s documented output with the ScreenBar model’s requirement. A connector that fits does not establish that the source can provide the required current.

Change only the power source during the test. If the flicker disappears on the supported source, the previous power path was the problem.

Step 02

Decide whether the lamp flickers in person or only in recorded video.

If the light looks steady to your eyes but bands or flickers in a webcam or phone recording, do not immediately treat that as an LED-driver failure. Camera shutter/exposure timing can interact with the way a light is modulated. Try the camera’s anti-flicker setting, exposure, or shutter options and compare at a different brightness level.

If you can see the lamp itself flicker with your eyes, continue troubleshooting the lamp and power path.

Step 03

Keep model-specific controls separate.

Do not follow Halo controller instructions on a ScreenBar Pro or vice versa. If a controller is unresponsive, use the exact model’s BenQ manual/support procedure. Avoid cleaning internal electrical contacts or opening the lamp unless BenQ documents that procedure for the model.

Decision

Do you need a replacement?

No

If a supported power source or camera setting removes the symptom, keep the light.

Maybe

If a detachable cable or external power source is part of the model, substitute only a known-compatible part before blaming the lamp.

Service / replacement

If visible flicker persists with the supplied or documented power path and controls, use BenQ support or warranty service instead of opening the light.
